One&Only's Caribbean debut

Half Moon Bay, Antigua and Barbuda
One&Only Antigua

First look

This is One&Only's first address in the Caribbean, and the brand says it spent a long time looking for the right one. The choice is Half Moon Bay on Antigua's southeast coast: a 132-acre site over a secluded semicircular beach, with cliffs climbing behind it and a protected national park next door. Kerzner International is developing and operating it, with a resort plus a set of private residences slated to open in 2027.

On paper, the pitch is restraint rather than spectacle. The plan leans on the island's own building vernacular, indoor-outdoor living and the natural terrain, with the brand promising minimal disruption to the site during construction. Room count hasn't been locked publicly, and no architect has been named yet.

We haven't stayed, so this is anticipation, not a verdict. What we'll be watching for: whether a national-park setting actually means quiet and dark skies, how the residences sit alongside the hotel, and whether the low-impact promise holds once it's built. We'll find out when we visit.

Not yet scored. We publish a Fat Score only once a hotel is open and real guests have stayed and written about it — this is a first look, not a verdict.
