Our Beach Villa was updated, modern and plenty spacious for our family of four, with a great indoor-outdoor flow and meticulous housekeeping. The service was warm and intuitive rather than stiff: staff remembered my wife's ginger tea order, our son's love of coconut ice cream, and left a nightlight for our daughter who's scared of the dark. The kids' club had our children begging to go every morning for the marine biology sessions, and dining at the beach grill and the Japanese restaurant, Kaage, was consistently excellent. We were picked up at the airport and taken on a 45-minute high-speed yacht ride to the island, where the welcome was warm from the start. Getting around is by electric buggy or bicycle along shady paths, and our overwater villa had everything we needed and then some. The island itself is beautiful, but the people are what made it feel like paradise to us. Hameed's attention to detail was there every day, and when we had a health scare at night he found solutions and made sure we were safe. Hussain greeted us at the airport and saw us off at the end, and Shimaan stopped his buggy mid-drive to show us a hidden path to a beach view we'd have otherwise missed. Moe from the dive center brought real calm and care to showing us the most striking parts of the reef.
