The Verdict
One&Only Reethi Rah occupies one of the Maldives' largest resort islands, offering genuine variety with 12 beaches sprawling across six kilometers of coastline. The speedboat accessibility from Malé removes seaplane logistics, while the island's scale provides both social energy at the Beach Club and secluded pockets for privacy. Service operates at the anticipatory level you'd expect from One&Only, with staff consistently recognized for going beyond standard luxury hospitality. The dining program impresses with quality that seems impossible on a remote island, though the lack of house reef means snorkeling requires excursions rather than villa-front access. At this price point, a few operational inconsistencies around billing transparency and room maintenance feel more pronounced than they should.

What People Say
We visited this resort in 2018 and had a great time, but now they've implemented a minimum 4-night stay rule.
That's why it's very disappointing when I tried to book a quick getaway this year, only to find out they have such a rule. They're the only resort in the Maldives with such a requirement, which limits flexibility for shorter stays.
We spent five nights comparing it to Four Seasons Landaa, and the service felt more like Caribbean level than Maldives luxury standard.
The rooms are fairly basic for the price and the deck area is pretty small, so the pool is also very small and in the shade, making it too cold to use. Since the deck is small, there's limited outdoor space which is very important in the Maldives. The service is more comparable to Caribbean resorts in our opinion, not consistent with most Maldives luxury properties.
We had an incredible time at One & Only with staff who were incredibly responsive to every detail.
I watched them clean the floating platform within 15 minutes after I mentioned it was dirty, and when our darts set got worn down, a brand new one appeared the next day. The scuba operation was first class in every way, and biking through the resort to get from place to place was so much fun. The variety of activities kept our group of five adults engaged throughout our stay.
Our stay was the most magical experience we have ever had, thanks to staff who went above and beyond every single day.
Hameed made our stay unique daily with world-class attention to detail, even finding solutions to a health issue we had at night to keep us safe. Hussain was perfect from airport arrival to goodbye, while Shimaan stopped his buggy to show us a hidden beach path we would have missed. Moe from the dive center showed us the most magical parts of the ocean with incredible attention to underwater details.
I've traveled extensively and stayed in incredible places worldwide, but this stands out as the best hospitality experience ever.
While every element was flawless, the true highlight was the exceptional team. Mahmoud, Bindu, Sri, Hafeez, Matheen, Shabin, Shippe, John, Shuaau, Ibrahim, Janine, Nyoman, Raheem, Anissa, and the entire beach club and housekeeping teams made the experience genuinely unforgettable. Even with high expectations, they exceeded them all.
Our stay was absolutely a slice of heaven, with staff who couldn't have made us feel more welcome.
Eugene, our host, couldn't have made our stay any better, while Abdul, Aduham, Faiz and Isha were the nicest waiters who couldn't have done enough for us. General manager Larissa and airport manager Hussain were incredibly kind and accommodating. We truly felt that if we had to define paradise, it would be our stay at this resort — I understand why guests return time and time again.
The island is beautiful and service good, but unfortunately the experience didn't live up to the price tag.
We were told we could use water-sports equipment, so we tried foilboarding and were asked if we needed an explanation. After a short 40-minute session, we were surprised with a $730 bill — not exactly what you expect when told something is 'included.' We also had daily dining credit that couldn't be used for room service, which felt inconvenient when we wanted to sleep in.
This truly is the experience of living on an island in the middle of the ocean.
There's so much to do here that you need five days — tennis, pickleball, swimming, jet skis, sailboats, scuba diving and fishing. They have many different restaurants and we never got tired of eating at the same place. The breakfast is included every morning and it's one of the best I've ever had.
I've been here four times but this time will certainly be my last — food quality is going south.
Prices are very high and quality is poor, and you're stuck with them on an island. By day three, food became an issue. Service is friendly but appears majorly understaffed with overworked staff. It takes long to clean rooms and get food orders, and many times we didn't get the right order. You can get asked to change your villa mid-stay because of wrong booking.
We stayed a week for our honeymoon and the name truly speaks for itself — our experience was amazing.
The amenities are just excellent, food was excellent, service was excellent. The transportation from Malé via boat makes the journey very comfortable and fast. The complex offers lots of different areas and beaches with several restaurants and bars to enjoy throughout the property.
Very good resort but very expensive — the prices made me a bit anxious throughout the stay.
Beautiful place and the service is faultless as you'd imagine, with restaurants that are on the whole excellent. I did have to move villas because of noise from the desalination plant, though it didn't bother my wife. The stunning island and beaches are largely man-made, not that you'd know it. I won't be returning because I'm just not rich enough.
This is one of the unique top luxury resorts in the Maldives where celebrities visit often.
An exclusive all-villa retreat offering unique privacy and unparalleled sophistication. The spacious luxury villas, some with private outdoor pools, each have ocean views and generous private verandas. Twelve white-sand beaches and turquoise bays stretch over six kilometers of private coastline in lush surroundings, with beautiful natural materials and contemporary styling creating sleek elegance.
How we score
The 12 signals above are a handpicked editorial selection from 93 signals we gathered across dedicated luxury communities, guest reviews, and editorial publications. Every signal we gathered — not just the ones shown — feeds into the Fat Score and verdict above.
Credibility-weighted
Detailed trip reports from luxury communities and major editorial reviews carry the most weight. Brief ratings add context, not conviction.

Recent experiences matter more. Renovations, management changes, and staff turnover all surface in fresh signals.
Consensus-driven
When independent sources agree on a strength or weakness, that signal gets amplified. One bad night doesn't tank a score.
