That sounds like a line every hotel claims, but the specifics here back it up: a maintenance team sawed a hole in a wardrobe base at the drop of a hat to retrieve a dropped ring, no fuss, no charge beyond the tip offered. A duty manager personally stepped in after a booking mix-up and turned it into the best part of someone’s trip. Breakfast at Kemiri gets built into people’s daily rhythm, and the COMO Shambhala spa runs treatments that guests describe as closer to a healing session than a massage menu.
The rooms are genuinely spacious, particularly the pool villas, and the setting down a jungle driveway off a busy Ubud road is a real trick: noise and traffic outside, total quiet the second you turn in. The trade-offs are minor but real. The outdoor pool runs cold in the jungle shade since the sun rarely reaches it, breakfast portions run small for bigger appetites, and there’s currently no sauna or ice plunge, just a steam room. A couple of stays also flagged the villa furnishings as due for a refresh, and Uma Cucina’s Italian menu doesn’t always land at the level the rest of the food does.

We arrived to a warm welcome from Rista with drinks and a full tour, and our two-room layout with an open-air shower felt like a proper little house. Waiter Lila served us dinner at 9:30pm when the bar was closing rather than turn us away, and the kitchen brought the head chef out personally to check on a peanut allergy. For the Mount Batur sunrise hike, the hotel packed us a home breakfast and then held a hot breakfast for us until 10:30am when we got back.

It felt less like a hotel and more like being welcomed into a private sanctuary in the jungle. We stayed in both a Terrace Room with pool and a Pool Villa, and both were spacious with huge bathrooms, freestanding tubs and double sinks. The pool bar felt more like a living room than a hotel space, and the spa setting alone, surrounded by greenery and running water, made the treatments feel like something else entirely. Breakfast was something we looked forward to every single morning.
COMO Uma Ubud is a boutique resort set in jungle grounds outside central Ubud, Bali, roughly a fifteen to thirty minute walk or a short drive from the town centre. The property has around 40 rooms and suites, including Terrace Rooms and Pool Villas, laid out across gardens with koi ponds and footbridges. The design favours an understated, natural aesthetic that guests describe as blending into its jungle surroundings rather than standing apart from them.
On property there are three restaurants, including the Italian-leaning Uma Cucina, which is open to outside guests, and Kemiri, the main breakfast and dining venue.
