The honest review of Raffles Dubai

Community score pending

The fat travel community hasn’t weighed in yet. When they do, it gets its score.

The verdict

Rooms here start big and get bigger: even the entry category beats what most Dubai luxury hotels call their top rooms, and the arrival lobby sets a tone of genuine quiet rather than the marble-and-noise version of luxury. The staff are the reason people come back. One guest had their room number remembered days into a long stay without being asked; another had fried eggs made exactly to their liking after a two-sentence description. A front office manager who upgrades returning guests to a Landmark Skyview Suite and finds a way to comp a guest dinner is not a one-off story here, it’s the house style.

The building is connected to Wafi Mall, which cuts both ways: it’s genuinely convenient for shopping and dinner without a car, but there’s little else close by, and most other attractions mean a taxi. A few guests hit real friction: one found a loud AC unit and a sea view that didn’t match what was booked, another had a bad check-in day with no valet help and a slow bag retrieval at checkout. The restaurant list is narrower than you’d expect at this level, and the Beach House can feel flat at night without any music or energy.

Book this for a calmer, more personal version of Dubai luxury, especially if you want a long stay where staff learn your habits rather than just your name. It’s less of a fit if you want to be in the middle of the action with restaurants and nightlife outside the hotel doors. For the room size and the way the team treats returning guests, it earns the booking.

Strengths

 • Room sizes run well above the category norm, even at entry level
 • Staff repeatedly remember names, room numbers and preferences without prompting
 • Direct connection to Wafi Mall for shopping, dining and a supermarket on site
 • Club lounge afternoon tea and evening canapes get consistent praise

Trade-offs

 • Restaurant variety is limited for a hotel of this size
 • Location is removed from most of Dubai’s attractions, requiring a taxi for almost everything
 • A few guests report real service breakdowns around check-in and luggage handling
 • Some rooms have dated furniture or noisy air conditioning

What people say

Strong endorsement

My husband felt unwell during our stay and the staff went well beyond what I expected to help.

We stayed three nights and the hotel was spotless throughout. The room was comfortable and had plenty of space, and breakfast was excellent, pork bacon included if you want it. The pool area was a nice touch with chilled water bottles brought round, and being connected to Wafi Mall made things easy.

 • Staff helped during a medical issue
 • Spacious comfortable room

This was the best Italian food I’ve ever had, and the chef catered to us personally.

Chef Rahul got our dietary needs exactly right, and our server Sai handled everything with real care and attention. Every vegetarian dish was prepared perfectly. I’d come back just for this meal alone.

 • Exceptional Italian restaurant
 • Dietary needs handled carefully

We booked four nights through a deal site and the food and wine inclusions went well beyond what I expected.

Chef Rahul, Sai, and the waiting staff Tina and Nafi all deserve credit for how well they looked after us. The whole stay felt exceptional from start to finish. We’ll be back.

 • Strong value on package deals
 • Dining service exceeded expectations

The pool area here was clean, chilled and genuinely relaxing.

Ella Faulkner Jul 2026

The sunbeds and towels were comfortable, the food was great, and the staff were kind and attentive throughout. I want to thank Divyesh, Mobil and Suku specifically for how well they looked after us poolside.

 • Comfortable pool setup
 • Attentive pool staff

This hotel is genuinely spectacular with large rooms and gracious staff.

Yossi Konijn May 2026

The restaurant food was good, and the connection to the mall is convenient even though the mall itself felt pretty empty. The location is relatively close to the airport, but there’s not much else nearby, so you’ll need a cab for most things.

 • Large rooms
 • Gracious staff
 • Little within walking distance
 • Requires taxis for most activities

Strong endorsement

Everyone from the doorman to the manager here was genuinely wonderful to deal with.

Our room had a unique layout with a balcony, and the lobby design is honestly spectacular. The lounge team even baked us a cake for our anniversary without much notice. I’d tell anyone to stay here.

“You must stay here” in their words
 • Unique room layouts with balconies
 • Anniversary gestures from the lounge team

We spent three weeks here as a family and it genuinely started to feel like home.

Mohit Chauhan Aug 2026

Every member of staff went out of their way to keep our extended stay comfortable, and the rooms stayed immaculate the entire time with great views. Mohammed in housekeeping checked in on us almost daily and his warmth made a real difference. We left feeling like more than just guests.

 • Excellent for extended family stays
 • Housekeeping consistency over weeks

Strong endorsement

This was our fourth stay, and we went ahead despite the regional tension because we trusted the hotel.

SBEL Aug 2026

Ahmed at the front desk upgraded us to a Landmark Skyview Suite and even found a way to comp a guest dinner for us. The club lounge was closed and breakfast only ran weekends due to the circumstances, but the lobby team more than made up for it. The pool crew, especially Amrendu and Mohit the lifeguard, made our last day special with a goodbye cocktail they put together themselves.

 • Front desk goes well beyond standard service
 • Pool team builds real rapport with returning guests
 • Club lounge and breakfast hours were reduced during our stay

Drags the score

Several points here were genuinely disappointing for a hotel at this standard, and I think management should know.

Mohammad Al Ali Aug 2026

The restaurant variety felt limited, and Beach House had no music or atmosphere at all one evening, which felt flat. I’d told staff it was our anniversary and got no acknowledgment, which stung a little. Worse, the unit we stayed in had a loudly malfunctioning AC unit in the master bedroom, no bedside charging outlets, and the sea view we were promised at booking just wasn’t there in reality.

 • Overall stay was still enjoyable
 • Limited restaurant variety
 • AC unit noise disrupted sleep
 • Sea view did not match what was booked
 • No anniversary acknowledgment despite advance notice

I’ve stayed in over 500 hotels worldwide and this is only the second time I’ve bothered to leave a review.

Craig w Jul 2026

The entrance alone signals real luxury, and early check-in at 12.30pm was no issue thanks to my Amex Platinum. What stood out most is that staff across reception, the elevators, restaurants, room service and housekeeping all seemed to know my name. It’s a bit removed from the main attractions, but for what it delivers I’d call it the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Dubai.

“somehow remembered my name” in their words
 • Staff recognition across every department
 • Strong entrance and arrival experience
 • A bit removed from main attractions

Red flag

Our holiday was completely ruined by how poorly we were treated from arrival to departure.

محمد محمد May 2026

There was nobody to help with the car or luggage when we arrived, so we carried everything ourselves. We were told the minibar would be removed and fruit left in our room but neither happened after a 30 minute wait. At checkout we waited over an hour for help with bags that never came, so my kids and I hauled everything out ourselves, and the room itself had outdated furniture and flickering lights.

 • No valet or luggage assistance on arrival
 • Over an hour wait for checkout assistance
 • Outdated furniture and flickering lights

This was easily one of the best hotel stays I’ve had anywhere.

Salim Al Kalbani May 2026

The rooms felt more like a private retreat than a typical hotel room, spacious with a style that blends warmth and luxury. Being connected to Wafi Mall made shopping and dining effortless, and we were still a short drive from Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa. Pya at the front desk was especially supportive, and I loved how breakfast let you pick cold items freely while hot dishes were cooked fresh to order.

 • Thoughtful breakfast format reduces waste
 • Front desk staff go the extra mile
 • Convenient base for exploring the city

From check-in to check-out, four nights here were close to perfect.

Ian Alexander Mar 2026

Our room was spacious and immaculate, and the club lounge made us feel genuinely welcome with great afternoon tea and nightly canapes and cocktails. Staff seemed to anticipate what we wanted before we even asked. The pool attendants were some of the best service I’ve seen anywhere.

 • Club lounge experience stands out
 • Pool attendants rated among the best anywhere

About Raffles Dubai

Raffles Dubai sits above Wafi Mall in the Oud Metha area of the city, connected directly to the mall’s shopping and dining. The hotel is part of the Raffles brand and takes the form of a pyramid-topped tower, a distinctive silhouette on the Dubai skyline. Guests describe room categories as notably spacious compared with other luxury properties in the city, with several room types offering balconies and skyline views.

On property, the hotel operates multiple restaurants including Solo, an Italian restaurant, and Beach House, along with a club lounge offering afternoon tea, evening canapes and breakfast service. There is a pool deck with attendant service, a spa, and a fitness facility. The connection to Wafi Mall puts a supermarket, additional restaurants and retail within the building, while Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa are a drive away.

What fat travellers ask

What’s the best time to visit Raffles Dubai?

Guests who stayed during the cooler months, roughly October through March, mention outdoor dining like Suhoor evenings and pool time without the summer heat limiting activity. The club lounge and breakfast setup have varied seasonally, so it’s worth confirming hours directly before booking.

How does Raffles Dubai compare to nearby alternatives?

Guests who’ve stayed at a dozen or more Dubai hotels single this one out specifically for room size and staff consistency rather than nightlife or beach access. If being near Dubai Marina or JBR matters more than space and service, a beachfront property will suit better.

Who is Raffles Dubai best for?

It suits travelers who want a quieter, personal-feeling stay and don’t mind taxiing to attractions, including repeat visitors and longer stays where staff get to know preferences. It’s a weaker fit for first-timers wanting to walk out the door into Dubai’s main tourist strip.

How do I book Raffles Dubai?

Two routes, and both end with the reservation sitting at the hotel in your name. Direct on the hotel’s own site is the fastest — the Reserve button on this page goes straight to it. The other is through a travel advisor with consortia access: you pay the same rate the hotel is charging publicly, the hotel pays the advisor’s commission instead of you, and an amenity package comes attached — breakfast for two daily, even on room-only rates, $100 property credit for food, drink or spa, room upgrade, subject to availability, early check-in and late check-out, subject to availability. We handle that side ourselves for readers who ask.

What is the smartest way to book Raffles Dubai?

Through a travel advisor with consortia access, for almost everyone. You pay the hotel’s own public rate and an amenity package comes on top that direct booking doesn’t include — typically breakfast for two daily, even on room-only rates, $100 property credit for food, drink or spa, room upgrade, subject to availability, early check-in and late check-out, subject to availability. It costs nothing extra, because the hotel pays the commission rather than you. The one real exception is brand loyalty: advisor rates don’t always earn nights toward status, so if you’re chasing a tier or points, book direct. Short of that, there’s no version of booking direct that leaves you better off. We’re advisors ourselves, so you can just ask us.

Can I get a free room upgrade at Raffles Dubai?

Never guaranteed — it depends on what’s still unsold the day you arrive, and anyone promising one is guessing. Two things move the odds. The reliable one is booking through a consortia programme, where a room upgrade is written into the amenity package subject to availability; it costs nothing extra and it is the closest thing to a lever that exists. The other is telling the hotel in advance that you’re celebrating something, which works more often than people expect. The first part is already handled if you book it with us.

Most weeks, we leave you alone.
