Four Seasons Hotel Xi’an is reported at around 250 keys near the Muta Temple Relics Park, bringing the brand to one of China’s great historic cities. Sources vary widely on the date, anywhere from 2026 to 2028, so the timing is among the least settled in this list. Xi’an’s draw is heavily heritage-led, anchored by the Terracotta Army and the old city walls, which gives the hotel a strong destination to lean on.

Whether the resort framing holds up at 250 rooms. Four Seasons positioned this as a resort-style retreat inside a dense city, which is an unusual pitch — the setting next to Muta Temple Relics Park is the whole argument for it. We’ll be watching whether the low-rise, landscaped compound actually delivers that remove, or whether it reads as a regular city hotel with a heritage view.
Whether the rooftop bar is the standout it needs to be. The dining lineup — two restaurants, a lobby bar, and a rooftop bar over the temple park — is solid on paper, but Four Seasons’ China hotels have had mixed records on whether the restaurants draw locals or just feed guests. Xi’an is a city with a serious food culture; a Four Seasons that plays it safe in the dining room would be a missed opportunity.

Whether a 250-key Four Seasons can run at quality in a heritage tourism city rather than a tier-one business hub. Xi’an draws visitors for the Terracotta Army and the Tang Dynasty walls, not for corporate travel, which means demand peaks around holidays and drops outside them. That occupancy pattern is a different operating challenge than Beijing or Shanghai, and it tends to test service consistency harder.

When does Four Seasons Hotel Xi’an open?
The original 2022 announcement targeted 2026, but Four Seasons’ own forward-looking press materials for 2026 do not include Xi’an among their anticipated openings that year. The current reported range runs from 2026 to 2028, so we are treating the date as unconfirmed until the brand publishes a firm timeline.
Where is Four Seasons Hotel Xi’an located?
It sits adjacent to Muta Temple Relics Park — the site of a Sui and Tang Dynasty temple dating to 603 AD — and a short walk from Tang Dynasty Wall Relics Park. The hotel is around 45 minutes by car from Xi’an Xianyang International Airport, and is designed as a resort-style property within an otherwise dense urban area of the city.
Is this Four Seasons’ first hotel in Xi’an?
Yes. Four Seasons has multiple properties in China — in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Chengdu — but Xi’an will be the brand’s first hotel in the city. It is operated by Four Seasons and developed by Spring Garden Company Limited, a subsidiary of the Vanzhong Group.
How many rooms will Four Seasons Hotel Xi’an have?
The hotel is planned with 250 guestrooms and suites, making it a sizeable property by the brand’s standards. It is part of a mixed-use development and is described as a new-build rather than a conversion.
What restaurants and facilities will it have?
Plans include two restaurants, a lobby bar and a rooftop bar overlooking Muta Temple Relics Park, plus multiple private dining rooms and two ballrooms. The facility list also covers a spa, salon, indoor and outdoor pools, and outdoor space for Tai chi and exercise. No architect or designer has been publicly named.
