First look
Park Hyatt opens its first resort in Vietnam on 8 December 2026, on Phu Quoc’s southwest coast. Reservations are already open, for stays from the opening night. It is the first time this date has come forward: the resort was first announced for 2022 and had slipped as far as March 2027. It is laid out as a village by the sea, with courtyards, shaded paths and gardens across 65 hectares of lotus lakes and paddy fields, running down to 1.7 kilometres of beach. There are 114 rooms and suites, 54 pool villas and The Manor, an eight-bedroom house for families travelling across generations.
Six restaurants and bars gather around The Courtyard at its centre, among them Fisherman’s, a floating restaurant over the water where you choose your seafood from a live tank, and Herbs & Spice, the all-day restaurant, cooking a Vietnamese family’s recipes handed down three generations. The spa, SOMA Wellbeing, sits beside a lotus lake and plans its treatments around the time of day. The first guests arrive in time for Christmas and New Year, with a festive programme running from 20 December to 6 January.

What the first weeks are like. The first guests arrive in time for Christmas and New Year, with the island at its busiest, and their reports will tell us more than any render: how quickly the service finds its feet, and whether the village layout works when it’s full.
Whether the island programme is more than a list. Joining rice farmers in the resort’s own paddies, learning cast-net fishing from local fishermen and a morning blessing at Ho Quoc Temple are its case for being a Vietnamese village by the sea rather than another beach resort. The first reports will say whether those are the moments guests come home talking about.
Whether the design team delivers on a sharp brief. AR+D on architecture, LTW Designworks on interiors, INTARAN Design on landscape: three firms working to a Vietnamese-village concept across 65 hectares of lotus lakes and paddy fields. Done well it feels like a sense of place; done poorly it’s a theme. Park Hyatt’s best properties (Tokyo, Sydney, Chicago) are known for architecture that earns its position; its resorts have been more uneven.
Whether Phu Quoc’s density problem becomes this hotel’s problem. The island has attracted a wave of large-footprint resorts over the past five years, and the southwest coast is not the quiet stretch it once was. 169 keys on 65 hectares with 1.7 kilometres of beach is low-density on paper; whether that translates to genuine quiet depends on what’s been built next door.

When does Park Hyatt Phu Quoc open?
On 8 December 2026. Reservations are already open, for stays from the opening night. The hotel announced the date on 16 October 2026, ahead of the 18 December it had been selling. It is the first time the date has come forward: the resort was first announced for 2022 and had slipped as far as March 2027. One note for the festive season: dinner on New Year’s Eve is compulsory for guests in house, at VND 11,000,000 per adult before service and tax.
Where exactly is Park Hyatt Phu Quoc located?
On the southwest coast of Phu Quoc, Vietnam’s largest island, in the Gulf of Thailand. The resort covers 65 hectares with 1.7 kilometres of white-sand beach, about 25 minutes from Phu Quoc International Airport, which has direct flights from across Asia, Singapore and Bangkok among them, and from India.
Is this Park Hyatt’s first hotel in Vietnam?
It is the brand’s first resort in Vietnam; its other address in the country is Park Hyatt Saigon, a city hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. The resort is developed by BIM Land and operated by Hyatt Hotels Corporation.

What restaurants, facilities, and designers are involved?
Six restaurants and bars sit around The Courtyard at the resort’s centre, run by executive chef Sheldon Fonseca: Fisherman’s, a floating restaurant over the sea where you choose seafood from a live tank; Herbs & Spice, the all-day restaurant, cooking a Vietnamese family’s recipes; La Maisonette, French Riviera cooking; Pepper Grill, dinner only, over an open fire, after the island’s pepper; the Pool House & Bar, for sourdough pizza by the pool; and the Living Room, for Vietnamese coffee, cacao and chocolate. There are two infinity pools and a Kids’ Village whose daily programme (a treasure hunt, crafts, dance, cooking, films) is free, with an hour a day for teenagers. SOMA Wellbeing, the spa beside a lotus lake, plans its treatments around the time of day, pairing Vietnamese treatments with infrared masks and compression therapy; its signature is Diện Chẩn, a Vietnamese facial reflexology developed in Ho Chi Minh City in the 1980s. The architecture is by AR+D, the interiors by LTW Designworks and the landscape by INTARAN Design.
