The honest review of Taj Dubai

Community score pending

The fat travel community hasn’t weighed in yet. When they do, it gets its score.

The verdict

What you get at Taj Dubai is a Business Bay address that puts Dubai Mall within a twenty-minute walk, rooms that run genuinely spacious by city standards, and a front desk that keeps producing staff who fix things without being chased. Guests checking in get greeted with a small Tulsi bead ritual, and when a room wasn’t ready for one guest, the duty manager personally apologized and moved her into a suite with skyline views. That kind of recovery shows up often enough in what people write that it reads like house culture rather than a lucky night.

The club lounge is worth knowing about if you can swing it: Burj Khalifa views, a 24-hour butler, and a breakfast spread that more than one traveler called the best they’d had in a UAE five-star. The base-category Burj View rooms are a gamble, though, since at least one guest found the view partially obstructed and said the hotel doesn’t flag that clearly at booking. Wellness is the weak link: the shaded pool gets real praise, but the spa and gym barely come up, and one guest’s experience with the locker facilities at a day-pass program was handled so clumsily, and left unanswered after two follow-up emails, that it’s worth asking about if you’re booking through anything other than a direct room reservation.

Book it for the location and for restaurants like Bombay Brasserie and Miss Tess, both of which get name-checked for specific servers going out of their way with recommendations and extras. Families do well here, business travelers do well here, and the hotel earns repeat bookings from people who come to Dubai often. Just don’t expect spa-driven wellness to be part of the draw.

Strengths

  • Front desk staff consistently step in to fix problems, including room upgrades offered unasked after a mix-up
  • Business Bay location puts Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa within easy walking distance
  • Bombay Brasserie and Miss Tess both draw specific praise for food and attentive servers
  • Breakfast spread repeatedly singled out as among the best of any Dubai five-star
  • Club lounge adds real value: Burj Khalifa views, a 24-hour butler, and its own breakfast and happy hour

Trade-offs

  • Spa and gym get almost no attention in what guests write, a thin spot at this price point
  • Booking a Burj Khalifa view room doesn’t guarantee an unobstructed one
  • A day-pass guest’s locker-room complaint and the unanswered follow-up emails around it point to a real gap in how non-room guests get handled

The hotel interior surprised me, and the breakfast buffet backed it up every morning.

NorthStar26243202689 Sep 2026

I wasn’t expecting the level of detail in the design, and the team that welcomed us was friendly enough that the hotel manager came out personally to say goodbye on departure. The breakfast buffet was the standout: the Eggs Benedict alone is worth getting up early for.

  • Detailed interior design
  • Strong breakfast, especially the Eggs Benedict

Red flag

I’ve stayed at Taj hotels in India and London, and this was my first disappointing experience with the brand.

Footprints604128 Sep 2026

The rooms were genuinely good, but the front desk service felt cold and impersonal, nothing like what I expect from Taj elsewhere. I won’t go into every detail, but if good front desk service matters to you, I’d think twice before booking this one.

  • Good room quality
  • Front desk service felt impersonal

My kids loved every part of this stay, especially the warmth of how the staff greeted us each time.

Sheshu Vennamaneni Aug 2026

This ranked as one of the best stays we’ve had downtown. The way we were welcomed every single time we came back through the lobby was hard to put into words.

  • Warm, consistent welcome for families

The service here offered genuinely good value for what we paid, and one woman made the whole stay comfortable.

MOHAMMAD TABISH Jul 2026

The team was warm and professional from the moment we walked in, and that welcome carried through the entire visit. One staffer in particular stood out for being attentive and always on top of things.

  • Good value for the service level

This was easily the best breakfast I’ve had at any five-star hotel in the UAE.

LANEESH Jun 2026

Every dish on the breakfast spread was excellent, and the fact that barista coffee was included made it even better. The shaded pool worked perfectly even in summer heat, and the whole hotel stayed spotless with genuinely nice artwork throughout the public spaces. Room service was excellent too, which made the whole stay feel comfortable from start to finish.

  • Breakfast spread among the best in the city
  • Shaded pool works well in summer
  • Strong in-room service

Red flag

My locker stopped working during a day pass visit and the way staff handled it left me humiliated in front of other guests.

R P Oct 2026

I was still wet and wrapped in a towel when staff approached me publicly to question my locker access instead of handling it discreetly. It made me feel like a second-class guest, and I started wondering if day-pass visitors get treated differently than hotel guests. I emailed management twice afterward and never got so much as an acknowledgment.

  • Pool and locker facilities on site
  • Privacy mishandled in a public area
  • No response to follow-up emails

Two managers looked after us so well all week that the stay felt personal rather than routine.

Haider Mehmood Oct 2026

The hotel itself is elegant and sits well in Business Bay, but it was the managers who made the trip. They were attentive and professional the whole stay, always ready to help with a real smile. Dinner at Bombay Brasserie was the highlight: our host walked us through the menu and the food came out beautifully presented and full of flavor. Breakfast every morning was generous and fresh enough to set the tone for the whole day.

  • Attentive, personal management team
  • Bombay Brasserie dinner service
  • Strong breakfast spread

The hotel reached out before we even arrived to ask if we needed anything arranged, and the whole stay kept that promise.

GoPlaces37583627620 Sep 2026

Check-in came with a small welcome ritual and our room was stocked with a thoughtful extra or two. The location put every part of the city within easy reach. Up in the club lounge, the team kept the spread strong, the made-to-order omelettes and parathas were genuinely good, and the filter coffee was worth coming back for. Checkout wrapped up with a small souvenir and a timely airport transfer, which closed the stay out properly.

  • Pre-arrival outreach
  • Club lounge breakfast quality
  • Smooth checkout and airport transfer

Dinner at Tree House was the best meal of our trip, and the lamb chops alone are worth the reservation.

sherav2016 Sep 2026

The food was excellent, the room looked great, and the whole evening felt special from start to finish. The Australian lamb chops stood out as the dish of the night, cooked exactly right and full of flavor. The team taking care of our table kept the energy warm without ever rushing us.

  • Australian lamb chops at Tree House
  • Attentive, unhurried table service

I got handed a room that hadn’t been made up, and the duty manager turned it into the best night of my trip.

Su Patel Sep 2026

The duty manager came to see me personally, took full ownership of the mistake, and apologized in a way that actually felt genuine. He then upgraded me into a huge suite with gorgeous views, and I had one of the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a hotel. The little Tulsi bead good-luck ritual at check-in was a sweet touch too, and it felt right at home in that suite.

“This is what five-star hospitality looks like.” in their words
  • Duty manager handled a mistake with a real apology and upgrade
  • Tulsi bead welcome ritual
  • Spacious suite with strong views
  • Initial room wasn’t ready

I’ve been coming back to this hotel for business trips since late 2024, and it’s turned into my only choice in Dubai.

Danish D Jul 2026

Every stay has been genuinely good, between the well-appointed rooms and facilities and the warmth of the whole team. One staff member in particular has made trip after trip feel effortless, handling details with a level of personal care that turns a routine business visit into something closer to relaxing. It’s rare to find that kind of consistency at a hotel I’m visiting on repeat.

  • Consistent experience across repeat business stays
  • Well-appointed rooms and facilities

We stayed six nights in a Burj Khalifa view room and it was one of the best family trips we’ve had.

Ashmeet bhasin Jul 2026

The room was spacious, elegant, and spotless, and waking up to that skyline view never got old. The staff were courteous across the board, and one woman at the front desk arranged a room upgrade and checked in on us throughout the stay to make sure we were comfortable. Breakfast was excellent every single morning, and the overall feel of the hotel managed to stay luxurious without ever feeling stiff.

  • Burj Khalifa view room quality
  • Front desk arranged an upgrade unprompted
  • Strong daily breakfast

Mixed read

We asked for a Burj View room and the view we got was partially blocked, which the website never made clear.

Gurpreet Singh Kalra Jun 2026

The rooms themselves were spacious and well-kept, but the Burj View category turned out to be a gamble that I wish had been flagged at booking. Breakfast was fine but forgettable. The location is the real draw here, though I’ll say there are several other hotels nearby offering similarly easy access to Downtown Dubai. One man at the front desk was exceptionally kind and professional and became the best part of the stay.

  • Spacious, well-kept rooms
  • Prime Downtown Dubai location
  • One front desk staffer stood out for genuine warmth
  • Burj View room was partially obstructed
  • Breakfast was average
  • Similar hotels nearby offer comparable location

Every single person we dealt with, from valet to housekeeping to the restaurant team, treated us better than I expected from a hotel stay.

Yuberly Yap Jun 2026

One of the reception staff got us settled into a renovated room with a great city view and arranged an early check-in without us even asking twice. An assistant manager took the time to walk us through the hotel’s history, and a duty manager handled a question we had with real professionalism. Dinner at Miss Tess was unforgettable thanks to a server who steered us toward the right dishes and added a few thoughtful extras. We still haven’t tried the pool or gym, which tells you how much time the rest of the stay took up.

  • Renovated room with city view
  • Early check-in granted easily
  • Miss Tess dinner service
  • Didn’t get to the pool or gym

The club floor was worth every bit of the upgrade, with a 24-hour butler and a Burj Khalifa view I didn’t want to leave.

Trip.com Member Trip.com Jul 2025

The lounge on the 24th floor ran happy hour, afternoon tea, and breakfast, and having a personal butler on call the whole stay made it feel like a different hotel entirely. The shuttle to Dubai Mall ran reliably every hour, except at 6pm, and I used it as my starting point for a hop-on-hop-off tour of the city. Breakfast was excellent both on the club floor and downstairs in the main restaurant.

  • 24-hour butler on the club floor
  • Reliable hourly shuttle to Dubai Mall
  • Strong breakfast in both venues
  • Shuttle doesn’t run at 6pm

About Taj Dubai

Taj Dubai is a five-star hotel in the Business Bay district of Dubai, within walking distance of Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa. The property is designed in an elegant Indian style throughout its public spaces and guest rooms, with artwork and detailing that reference the Taj brand’s Indian heritage. Room categories include standard city view rooms, Burj Khalifa view rooms, and a club floor with a private lounge on the 24th level.

On property, dining options include Bombay Brasserie, Tree House, Miss Tess, and Eloquent Elephant, covering a range of cuisines and settings. The hotel has a shaded outdoor swimming pool suited to Dubai’s summer climate, a gym, and a spa. A shuttle service runs guests to Dubai Mall on an hourly schedule, and the club lounge offers a dedicated breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening service for guests booked into that category. The location places the hotel close to Downtown Dubai’s shopping, dining, and sightseeing without being directly in the busiest tourist core.

What fat travellers ask

Is Taj Dubai worth it?

For the location and the food, yes: Business Bay puts you a short walk from Dubai Mall, and restaurants like Bombay Brasserie and Miss Tess get singled out often. The spa and gym are an afterthought here, so it’s worth it for guests prioritizing location, dining, and a strong front desk over a wellness-heavy stay.

Is the club lounge worth booking?

Guests who’ve used it describe a 24-hour butler, Burj Khalifa views, and a breakfast and happy hour spread separate from the main restaurant, which several called a genuine upgrade over the base room category.

How does Taj Dubai compare to other Business Bay hotels?

One guest noted several nearby hotels offer similarly convenient access to Downtown Dubai, so the location alone isn’t a reason to pick this one over competitors in the same pocket of the city; the dining and front-desk service are where it pulls ahead.

Who is Taj Dubai best for?

Families and business travelers come up most often in what people write, drawn to the quiet rooms, the breakfast, and a front desk that tends to resolve problems without a fight. Travelers who want wellness as a centerpiece should look elsewhere.

How do I book Taj Dubai?

Directly with the hotel. The Reserve button on this page takes you there, and the reservation is made with the hotel, in your name.

What is the smartest way to book Taj Dubai?

Directly with the hotel is the simplest: the reservation is then the hotel’s own, so a change of dates or a request for a particular room goes straight to the people who run it.

Can I get a free room upgrade at Taj Dubai?

Not something anyone can promise: it depends on what’s still unsold the day you arrive. Telling the hotel in advance that you’re celebrating something is worth doing.
