Opening 2026

Rosewood Hangzhou

Around 140 rooms in Hangzhou's Wangjiang New City

Hangzhou, China

First look

Rosewood is opening in Hangzhou, the lakeside city south of Shanghai, with a roughly 140-room hotel in the Wangjiang New City district. Hangzhou's mix of scenery and tech-driven growth makes it a logical addition to the brand's growing China map, and at 140 rooms this sits at the more intimate end of its Chinese pipeline.

The date has slipped and now reads roughly 2026, so we're hedging slightly on timing. (Worth noting an earlier factsheet typo rendered the city as 'Huangzhou'; the correct name is Hangzhou.) The appeal of a smaller key-count is that it can lean into a sense of place rather than processing volume. What we'll be watching for is whether the hotel taps the city's lakeside character, and whether the 2026 target finally sticks after the delay.

Not yet scored. We publish a Fat Score only once a hotel is open and real guests have stayed and written about it — this is a first look, not a verdict.
