The Verdict
Rosewood Beijing delivers the brand's signature residential luxury in China's capital, with thoughtfully curated rooms that feel more like a sophisticated private library than a hotel. The property excels in the details that matter—spacious suites with genuine art and books, exceptional concierge service that handles complex requests, and what many consider Beijing's finest hotel pool. While the CBD location lacks the cultural immersion of newer hutong properties, it compensates with easy access to business districts and reliable Western-standard service that particularly appeals to first-time China visitors.

What People Say
We loved the gorgeous rooms and hotel setting, but they really need to improve breakfast service.
The rooms were absolutely stunning and the property itself had this incredible atmosphere that we fell in love with. The setting was just gorgeous throughout our stay. But breakfast was pretty disappointing and honestly put me in a bad mood a few mornings. The free tai chi class they offered was also awful, which was a letdown. Other than those service hiccups, we had no complaints about our time there.
I've been everywhere in Beijing and nothing comes close to this amazing place.
The rooms are great and the lounge has such friendly people creating a wonderful atmosphere. Nicolas Joyce and Aria at the Manor lounge deserve special recognition for their exceptional service. After staying at hotels all over Beijing, this one really stands out as something special. Everything from the accommodations to the staff just hits different here.
The hotel offers excellent rooms and responsive service, though breakfast lacks healthier options.
I stayed here for five nights and genuinely enjoyed every day of my visit. The rooms are excellent and the service is terrific and really responsive to guest needs. The gym is fantastic and the restaurants will absolutely blow your mind with their quality. Just be aware there's construction happening right now, so if you're sensitive to noise that might be an issue. My only real complaint is that breakfast options lack some of the healthier and more exciting choices you'd expect.
This is the worst Rosewood I've stayed at—getting a simple coffee order felt like running a playoff series.
I tried speaking Chinese yet somehow it took three staff members to get my coffee order, and they still got it wrong. The breakfast buffet had a guest openly vaping while staff did absolutely nothing to intervene. For a brand that positions itself as luxury, this felt like complete defensive breakdown with zero execution. I've stayed at other Rosewoods and this was straight amateur hour compared to their championship-level standards.
The hotel showered us with generosity and first-class amenities, though the spa facilities were too basic.
Our studio suite had spectacular views of the CCTV tower and city skyline, especially magical at night. The generosity was unimaginable—from premium toiletries to evening turndown with snacks, it felt like being showered with gifts. The Manor Club was an exclusive sanctuary with first-class champagne and service. My only disappointment was the spa, which felt far too basic for a luxury hotel and needs a proper hot tub, steam room, and relaxing area.
This was one of my most disappointing experiences—the hotel is dated and service lacks proper training.
I checked out after two hours and they still double-charged me, requiring multiple staff to fix their backend mistake. The hotel feels dated from design to utilities, with broken USB ports that couldn't charge my phone in five hours. Breakfast at 10:30am had no glasses at drink stations, no bowls for tofu, missing seasonings—clear signs of no proper staff training. When I asked for a beverage menu, the waitress raised her eyebrows and said they don't have one. Most of the food ended up in trash.
We stayed in connected suites and the setup was awesome for our family of four.
The two-suite format worked perfectly for our family, creating a very luxurious accommodation that felt spacious and well-designed. MEI Bar on the 5th floor was fantastic with live jazz, hookah, and great drinks creating this amazing atmosphere. The location is ideal for enjoying all of Beijing's major attractions, with even the Summer Palace only 45 minutes away. We'll definitely be coming back for another stay.
The pool and spa are beautiful, but attention to detail is lacking throughout the hotel.
We stayed our last three nights here and while the pool and spa are very beautiful with great massages, the overall attention to detail is lacking. Staff is nice but not well-trained—it's those little things that make or break a hotel. The Italian restaurant was a huge letdown, serving bad bouillabaisse as cioppino. Our suite overlooked an old shaggy condo rather than getting a better view assignment. The St. Regis costs a third of what we paid here but delivers service that deserves a chef's kiss.
I loved the room's tasteful interior design with books, artworks and whimsical ornaments creating an elegant library atmosphere.
The room was done up with books, artworks and decorative items on shelves and tables, creating this lovely ambience of being in an elegant library and museum. I really enjoyed lounging in the room reading and exploring all the whimsical ornaments. The concierge was fantastic, helping me book traditional Beijing opera tickets when I had issues with the local app. The beautiful pool area was perfect for relaxation. Only complaint was the shower took 5-10 minutes to get hot water.
Probably the best hotel in Beijing—worth the additional cost over competitors like The Peninsula.
I stayed at The Peninsula earlier during the same trip and this beats it easily. The rooms are some of the best designed I've seen—very meticulously structured and finished, cozy yet modern. I was surprised to learn the hotel is over 10 years old because it feels so current. Food options are excellent, especially the Chinese restaurants—Country Kitchen has maybe the best duck I've ever had. They even let me stay in my room until 7:30pm for only half night charge.
The hardware is absolutely top-notch—brilliant design, décor, and furniture throughout.
The design, decoration, and furniture are all simply brilliant with excellent breakfast that's very delicious. Service quality is generally good though there's room for improvement particularly at the front desk. We did have a bit of an issue with front desk initially, but fortunately under the able leadership of the Director of Rooms, we finally had a happy ending to our stay.
