The service is the reason people come back a third and ninth time, and it shows in specifics rather than adjectives: a host who upgraded a couple to a water villa after a noisy first night, a general manager who sits and talks with guests rather than just checking in, a bottle of Malbec that appeared because a server noticed what someone was drinking. That said, the villas are showing their age on a few 2026 stays, and the dining plans nickel-and-dime you on drinks and extras (a $20 coconut got called out more than once). The water is that impossible turquoise you see in photos, and the sand is soft everywhere we walked. Our overwater villa was well equipped and private, and the snorkeling right off the island was incredible. Watching the sunset together each evening felt like it erased months of city stress.

Hassan and Ali handled our luggage in Male and had us in the lounge fast, which now uses the old international space since it’s larger and better staffed than the old domestic-adjacent room. After the short flight to Kooddoo we were met again and taken by golf cart to the speedboat, where the crew checked on everyone despite calm seas. Akram met us at the jetty with a welcome drink and drove us straight to our beach pool villa for an early check-in.

The turquoise water was full of marine life and the service from everyone was superb throughout our stay. For my wife’s birthday they decorated our bed and sent up a complimentary cake, a really nice touch. Nizam organized a bespoke local village tour and sunset picnic for us that was one of the best parts of the trip, though I’d suggest the resort make that tour complimentary for all guests. My one real note is that the villas are starting to need a refresh, even though they still look good.

The all-inclusive package meant we never worried about a big bill piling up. Restaurant quality was consistently high with enough variety to stay interesting, and the island essence tuna dishes were the standout. The reef had reef fish, sharks, eels, tuna and trevally, though we didn’t get the best weather for snorkeling as often as we wanted.

The team adjusted menus around our preferences every time, right down to French toast and a béarnaise sauce that weren’t on the menu. The Dining Room and Island Grill were both excellent, and our villa got twice-daily cleaning with little touches like sand messages left at our door. We asked for a villa with an unobstructed sea view and ended up in Villa 1, with reef sharks swimming right by the beach. We stayed eight nights and everything about the island and reef felt serene and easy to snorkel. Food was good, if pricey, and the villas were comfortable and thoughtfully laid out. The real standout was Ahmed at Blue Journeys, whose patience getting us through our diving certification opened up a whole different side of the reef we hadn’t seen just snorkeling on the surface.
Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa is set on a small island in the Maldives, reached by a boat transfer following the domestic flight from Male. The resort is arranged around a lagoon and a 360-degree house reef that circles the island.
