This is the one part of Dubai that doesn’t try to impress you with height. One&Only Royal Mirage is low-slung Arabian courtyards, wind towers, and its own stretch of beach facing Palm Jumeirah, and it has been running this way long enough that guests come back with the same kids fifteen years apart. Rooms start around £297 a night, and what you’re paying for is space and quiet rather than a view of the Marina skyline from the 80th floor.
The service is the reason people rebook: pool and beach staff get named by guests constantly, not staff titles but actual people, like Vivek replacing a salad after a crow got to it, or Akhil resetting sunbeds and handing out sunscreen before anyone asks. The Kids Club runs the same way, with staff remembered by first name across repeat stays years apart. Where it slips is food consistency: The Rotisserie’s buffet gets real praise, but the Palace side’s breakfast and the pool bar draw specific complaints about value and quality, and one guest flagged general cleanliness slipping below the standard the price implies. None of that derails a stay, but it’s worth knowing the kitchens aren’t as uniformly excellent as the people carrying the trays.
Book this for the beach and the calm, especially with kids: the water slide, the Kids Club, and staff who’ll refrigerate a child’s medication without a fuss all point at families doing a proper week here, not a quick city stopover. If you want a skyline view over a private beach, you’re at the wrong hotel; if you want Dubai to feel like a resort rather than a business trip, this is it.

The pool team kept my water topped up and reapplied sunscreen without being asked, and food orders came out fast. I did a hammam treatment with Zineb, who was patient and clearly knew what she was doing. When a window table opened up for afternoon tea, staff came and found me rather than waiting for me to ask.

The podiatrists know exactly what they’re doing, and the setting is calm enough that it never feels like a rushed salon appointment. Aya and Joey run the studio and make every visit feel like an occasion. Once you’ve had a treatment here, a regular salon just doesn’t cut it anymore.

I’d expected the rooms to feel dated based on what I’d heard beforehand, but the Arabian styling actually made them feel more luxurious, not less. We had dinner at the sister property on the Palm, and the boat transfer over made the whole evening feel like part of the experience rather than just logistics.

The Arabian Court breakfast buffet impressed me, but the Palace side’s version fell short of it. Dinner buffet didn’t feel worth what we paid, and the pool bar underwhelmed. I also noticed cleanliness wasn’t as sharp as I’d expect.

We stayed in the Arabian Court in two connected rooms with the children, and the breakfast was easily top class. The Asian-themed restaurant on property surprised me, and the beach access straight from the pool made the whole trip easy with kids. Secluded, quiet, away from the rest of Dubai. We’ll be back.

Vivek was looking after my area and struck the right balance: attentive but never hovering, and he clearly knew the drinks list. I had a small mishap when a bird got into my salad, and he’d replaced it before I even flagged it. The passion fruit margarita alone was worth the trip.

The little summer touches added up: complimentary sunscreen, sunglasses cleaning, ice cream by the pool. The Rotisserie’s menu was a genuine highlight, well-presented and well-priced for what it was. The pool team, including Buddima, Tarindu, Raditya, Ayoub, and Thisara, made the days by the water genuinely relaxing rather than just comfortable.

Staff arranged early check-in, took family photos, and put together a full kids’ kit that my daughter loved. Breakfast was good, though I’d have liked more variety. The one letdown: my daughter and her nanny waited over ten minutes outside in the heat for a golf cart to the Kids Club, and reception said little could be done even though no other children were there at the time.

The view stretches out toward Palm Jumeirah and the Marina skyline, and beach staff set up loungers and hand out ice water and face mists without being asked. Each of the three pool zones has its own layout and mood, and the main lagoon-style pool with the Arabian arches is genuinely striking. I’m an Emirates Platinum member and this is one of our regular stops.

One&Only Royal Mirage sits on the Jumeirah coastline in Dubai, arranged as three low-rise, Arabian-style palace buildings set within landscaped gardens along a private beach facing Palm Jumeirah and the Marina skyline. The property is divided into distinct wings, including Arabian Court and the Palace, connected by courtyards, archways and pools built in a traditional regional architectural style rather than the high-rise towers common elsewhere in the city. Room categories range from standard rooms up to sea-view Palace rooms and residences.
On property, dining includes The Rotisserie, Eauzone, Celebrities, Beach Bar & Grill, and Jetty Lounge, alongside a spa offering hammam and body treatments and a dedicated pedicure and manicure studio. The resort has multiple pool zones, including an adults-only pool, a temperature-controlled lagoon-style pool for families, and direct beach access.
