First look
Aman Beverly Hills is reported to open in phases around 2028 as part of One Beverly Hills. The plan spans eight acres and bundles three things under one roof: an Aman Club, the hotel, and residences. The phased timeline means the full picture will take a while to land even after the first piece opens.
An urban Aman attached to a members’ club and a residential development is a different proposition from the brand’s remote resorts, and Beverly Hills is a crowded luxury market. What we will be watching for is whether the hotel keeps its own identity inside a large mixed-use project. We have not stayed, so this is anticipation rather than a verdict.
What we’ll be watching
Whether the hotel keeps its own identity inside One Beverly Hills. A 10-storey, 78-suite hotel anchoring a $10 billion, 17.5-acre mixed-use campus alongside two residential towers and a 200,000-square-foot retail district is a fundamentally different animal from a remote Aman. We’ll be watching whether the Kerry Hill building reads as a sanctuary or as an amenity floor for condo buyers.
Whether the Aman Club model translates to Beverly Hills. The 100,000-square-foot club is the centrepiece of the pitch, but Aman has run clubs in Bangkok and will try it here in a market already dense with private-club options. We’ll be watching whether membership gives the hotel genuine cultural weight or ends up serving the residential towers more than the hotel guests.
Whether phased delivery bites. The first residential and commercial pieces are slated for 2027 with the full campus completing before the 2028 LA Olympics — which means early hotel guests could check in while the towers next door are still finishing. We’ll be watching how far along the botanical gardens and retail district actually are when the hotel doors open.
Whether this is the right city for Aman’s West Coast debut. Beverly Hills gives the brand its first US Pacific-coast address, but it’s also a strip of Wilshire Blvd bounded by the Beverly Hilton and the Waldorf Astoria rather than anything remote. We’ll be watching whether Kerry Hill Architects’ California modernist take delivers the quiet that Aman guests come for, or whether the location’s noise and density works against it.
