We were met at the airport and driven through the Bangkok traffic to the hotel, given jasmine bracelets on arrival, and checked in upstairs in our rooms rather than at a desk. We had a junior suite connected to a twin room, and my teenage kids were impressed by the bathroom, the vanity space and the wardrobe storage. The living room in our suite had three huge windows over the river, the bed was excellent, and the bath even had a small screen for watching TV. We were on the 22nd floor and never had any issue with elevator waits.

The terrace is my favorite spot for afternoon tea, especially in the cooler months when the weather actually cooperates. The set is beautifully presented, and it gets even better around Christmas with seasonal touches. There are sometimes a few birds around the terrace, but that’s never bothered me. My go-to order is the honey lemon soda, and the spa here is excellent too.

The location by the river is great and the rooms are fine, if a bit dated.
