Hamala, on Bahrain’s western coast, is where Taj is putting one half of its first move into the kingdom. The signed project is a 251-key resort with a beach club, developed with Kingdom Projects WLL. Paired with a downtown sister property in Manama, it gives Taj a two-pronged Bahrain entry covering both resort and city stays.
A beach club anchoring a mid-sized resort suggests this is aimed at leisure and weekend traffic from the wider Gulf, not just business travel. No opening date has been specified yet, so the timeline is open. What we will be watching for is how the resort sits against Bahrain’s established beachfront competition and whether Taj brings something distinct to a market it has never operated in.
