Six Senses Quexigal Palace has an official opening page pointing to 2027, on the 100-hectare Quexigal estate near Madrid. The concept is a recreated 16th-century royal village, with 60 rooms, 14 suites and a five-bedroom villa spread across the grounds.
What we’ll be watching
Whether the royal-village concept holds as architecture. Juan de Herrera’s 1563 estate and a recreated historic village are two very different things — one is a ruin thoughtfully restored, the other is a new-build dressed in period clothes. Raphaël Navot’s interiors are promising, but we’ll be watching whether the result reads as a genuine heritage property or a very expensive stage set.
Whether 60 rooms is too many for this brand on a Castilian estate. Six Senses Ibiza packs 137 units onto 8 hectares and leans into the festival-island energy. Quexigal is 100 hectares of quiet plateau near Ávila — at this scale, 60 rooms could feel wonderfully spread out or, if the operations don’t match the setting, eerily empty outside peak season.
Whether the opening actually lands in 2027. The original announcement pointed to end of 2026; the official Six Senses site now shows 2027. One slip has already happened, and a heritage reconstruction of this ambition — recreating an entire 16th-century royal village from the ground up — is the kind of project that tends to find new complications. We’re not booking 2027 flights yet.
Whether the dining is worth a trip from Madrid. The programme reportedly includes a signature restaurant, a pool bar and grill, a secret bar, a bar set inside an old aviary, and a tasting room — which is a serious line-up for 60 rooms. Six Senses can be uneven on food outside its Asian strongholds; Quexigal is a chance to prove the brand translates to Castilian terrain.

When does Six Senses Quexigal Palace open?
The official Six Senses site now points to 2027. Earlier press releases from December 2024 had targeted end of 2026, so the opening has already slipped once — treat 2027 as the current working estimate, not a firm date.
Where is Six Senses Quexigal Palace located?
On the Quexigal estate in the province of Ávila, roughly 50 minutes from central Madrid. The property covers about 100 hectares of Castilian countryside — far enough from the city to feel genuinely rural, close enough to reach in half a day.
Is this Six Senses’ first hotel in Spain?
Not quite. Six Senses Ibiza has been operating on the Balearic island since 2021. Quexigal Palace would be the brand’s first property on the Spanish mainland — that’s how IHG (Six Senses’ parent) positions it.
How many rooms and villas will it have?
The plans call for 60 guest accommodations spread across the main palace and auxiliary buildings — 13 suites, a presidential suite with private gardens, and a fully serviced five-bedroom villa for groups or private stays.
What restaurants and facilities are planned?
The reported programme includes a signature restaurant, pool bar and grill, a bar occupying the estate’s old aviary, a secret bar, and a tasting room — unusual depth for a property of this size. On the wellness side, the plans detail a spa with a halotherapy cave, herbal hammam, Finnish and infrared saunas, ice bath, vitality pool, and a recovery lounge with biohacking equipment. Arvo Arquitectura are the architects and Raphaël Navot — who won Maison&Objet’s Designer of the Year in 2023 — is handling the interiors.
