The honest review of Raffles Udaipur

Planning a Rajasthan trip and Raffles Udaipur is the one that's caught my eye so far.

I usually route through Dubai or Thailand on the way to India, sometimes tacking on the Maldives since it's such an easy add-on flight. This time I'm planning a proper Rajasthan trip and Raffles Udaipur looks like the standout. Still weighing it against the Fairmont Jaipur and Six Senses Fort Barwara for the rest of the itinerary.

The food was perfect, and the patisserie staff handled my toddler with more patience than I expected.

We had an awesome stay overall, and food was a real highlight throughout. Dinki and Arika at the patisserie deserve a shout out especially, since my 4-year-old was a handful and they never lost their composure. They stayed on their toes the entire time we were there.

Chef Amit's food was the best part of our whole stay, beautifully presented and full of flavor.

We had a wonderful dining experience, made memorable by Executive Chef Amit. Every dish came out exceptional, well-plated and clearly made with real attention to detail. His passion for the food and for hospitality generally came through in everything we ate.

Priya greeted us with a genuine smile and handled everything smoothly through the whole stay.

She was humble, warm, and professional from the moment we arrived, always attentive to what we needed. Nothing felt like it was left to chance. Her kindness made the whole experience feel more memorable than it would have otherwise.

Great spot for a relaxing stay, and the operations head Rajesh was always available when we needed him.

The location works well whether you're there to unwind or attending an event on property. Rajesh, the operations head, was a genuinely fine presence, always ready to help with anything we needed. Mehak and Priyanka also took good care of our group specifically.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome, and the rooms were spotless.

The whole stay was wonderful, and the surroundings felt peaceful the entire time. Food was good with plenty of variety, and every part of the property was clearly well maintained. It was exactly the right place to unwind with family, and we'd go back without hesitation.

The location and calm atmosphere were perfect, though honestly the food didn't quite match the rest of the property.

It was a genuinely peaceful stay, the property is well maintained and everything about the setting feels calm. Shubham Singh at the front desk was especially helpful and professional whenever we needed anything. The food was just average though, which felt a little out of step with how good everything else was.

Abhay and Vishal at the gym ran complimentary PT and yoga sessions, and the sauna was always properly hot.

The resort's facilities and staff were consistently good throughout our stay. The gym team was particularly attentive, offering free personal training and yoga sessions without us even asking. They also kept the steam room and sauna well maintained, worth a visit on its own.

Honestly, the welcome was a letdown: staff walked right past us without a word.

Nobody greeted us at arrival or offered any help, and the restaurant team ignored us even after we asked for assistance. At the high tea restaurant our table didn't even have napkins, which felt out of place for a hotel at this price. The front desk and restaurant teams both seemed poorly managed and inattentive to guests during our stay.

Our meal arrived five minutes early once, and staff apologized several times even though it didn't inconvenience us at all.

From arrival to departure, every detail here reflected real warmth and hospitality, and the property itself is stunning. What stood out most was the attention to detail: our meal came out a few minutes ahead of schedule and the team apologized repeatedly, even though we didn't mind at all. We also got to meet the chef, who shared the recipe for one of our favorite dishes, which was a lovely, unexpected touch.

Prashant arranged a sweet surprise for our proposal anniversary, complete with a garden tour and a song.

We had a fabulous stay overall, and the vibe of the property came through in every part of it, right down to the activities they arranged for guests. Dinki, Sourabh, and Prerna were all especially helpful along the way. Prashant went out of his way for our proposal anniversary, arranging a surprise, a garden tour, and even singing for us.

The gym trainer Mohit made every workout session enjoyable and genuinely motivating.

The property itself is stunning, with architecture and surroundings that feel properly luxurious. Mohit Saini, the gym trainer, stood out for his professionalism and how personally invested he seemed in helping us hit our own fitness goals. Saurav also went out of his way throughout the stay, handling every request promptly and graciously.

After trying most of the big properties in Udaipur, Raffles has the most activities for both adults and kids.

We stayed as a family of three and came away impressed with how much there was to do without ever leaving the island. Dinner at Sawai was a highlight, chef Ranchod personally guided us through some special dishes, including papad paneer sabji and hare ghas ki roti, all fantastic. Nikita and Ankit both took great care of us throughout the stay.

We were looked after so well that I'd say the service warrants six stars, not five.

Suchana and Dinky in the restaurant took great care of us throughout, and Ankit at the front desk was thoughtful from the start. What stuck with me most: Mr. Satya, the housekeeping manager, walked us back to the hotel when we got lost off property, adding 40 minutes to his own commute home, well outside his shift. The island itself is packed with activities, enough that you could stay the whole trip without leaving.

Mr. Gaurav upgraded us to a private pool room with a lake view after learning it was my father's retirement trip.

We came to celebrate my father's 44 years of work, and the welcome was rose petals and a congratulatory cake from the moment we stepped in. Gaurav Mendiratta arranged everything and then upgraded us to a private pool room with a lake view, completely unprompted. Dinner at Sawai was excellent, and the Writer's Bar the next evening had an atmosphere worth experiencing on its own.

As an Accor member on my honeymoon, the butler team and complimentary upgrade made the whole trip worth it.

Set apart from the main city on Udai Sagar Lake, it genuinely felt like a private world of its own. Gaurav, the butler manager, and Prashant on the butler team took care of everything, including a complimentary upgrade and honeymoon gifts. I'd recommend booking one of the island rooms, the dhow boat ride over is part of the experience, and the breakfast buffet rethinks the usual format well. My one note: the buffet's live counters repeat daily and could use more variety across cuisines.
