Rosewood's urban Japan debut in Roppongi, around 200 rooms atop a 330m tower

Tokyo, Japan

First look

Rosewood is making its urban debut in Japan with a Tokyo hotel of around 200 rooms perched atop a 330-metre tower in Roppongi, part of the Mori and Sumitomo Roppongi 5-Chome West redevelopment. A high-rise flagship in one of Tokyo's nightlife-and-art districts is a clear marquee project for the brand in a city with no shortage of top-tier hotels.

It was only announced on May 15, 2026 and is at an early stage, with no opening date attached, so this is one to file and revisit. Tokyo's luxury tier is fiercely good, which raises the bar for any newcomer. The sky-high setting is the obvious draw. What we'll be watching for is a firm timeline and whether the rooms-in-the-clouds positioning amounts to more than altitude once the project takes shape.
