Rosewood is planning its first hotel in Vietnam at Hoi An, the riverside town whose lantern-lit old quarter carries UNESCO World Heritage status: around 70 rooms plus 30 residences near the historic center. A brand-first in a country with a fast-growing luxury scene is a meaningful step, and the small key-count suggests something tuned to its heritage setting rather than a resort sprawl.
The honest note is timing: it has already been pushed back from a 2024 target and now sits as a ‘future opening’ with no firm date. We’re filing it as delayed rather than imminent. The intimate scale and the UNESCO-town location are the encouraging signs. What we’ll be watching for is a confirmed date and whether the design draws on Hoi An’s character, before we form any view of Rosewood’s Vietnam debut.
