Raffles Istanbul sits on top of the Zorlu Center mall, and that single fact decides who should book it. The rooms are the biggest in the city, starting around 650 square feet and climbing to roughly 1,400 in the junior suite, with balconies that line up straight at the Bosphorus Bridge. Every room comes with a butler, and the ones people name, Mumci, Mohamed, Aliza, actually show up: greeting guests off the elevator, texting on WhatsApp through the stay, leaving hammam salts and perfume on the pillow each night rather than once at check-in.
The location is the real trade-off, and it’s worth being blunt about it. You’re surrounded by highways and office towers, not the old city; getting to Sultanahmet is a 40-minute drive that becomes 80 in traffic, and there’s nowhere to walk outside the mall. This isn’t a hotel for a first trip to Istanbul chasing the old-town, two-continents feeling. There’s also no real coffee on property, just pod machines, which multiple guests flagged as an odd miss at this price. Billing has bitten a few people too: one guest was charged a huge security deposit on top of the room rate and waited two weeks for the refund.
Book this if you’ve done Istanbul before and want enormous rooms, a genuinely present butler team, and a quiet base with a mall underneath you for shopping and easy meals. If this is your first time in the city and the Bosphorus-and-bazaar version of Istanbul is the whole point of the trip, you’re better off somewhere in Sultanahmet or on the water itself. For a second or third visit, the room alone and the butler program make it worth the price.
Strengths
Among the largest hotel rooms in Istanbul, many with Bosphorus-facing balconies
Butlers who stay reachable by WhatsApp and personalize the stay with daily small gifts
Private entrance into the Zorlu Center mall for shopping and extra dining options
Spa and hammam treatments consistently singled out as highlights by guests
Concierge team credited with going well beyond normal requests, even for non-guests
Trade-offs
Sits inside an office and mall complex with nothing walkable to the historic city
No espresso machine anywhere on property, only pod coffee
One long-term repeat guest noted butler and housekeeping standards slipping compared to prior years
A security deposit charged well above the room cost caused a slow, frustrating refund for one guest
Sitting in an office tower misses the entire point of coming to Istanbul for the Bosphorus and the east-meets-west feel.

I weighed in on a thread about this hotel because the location inside a business and mall complex just doesn’t match what draws people to the city in the first place.
Location doesn’t match the classic Istanbul experience
From the second I walked in, this felt like a holiday, and my room looked straight at the Bosphorus Bridge.
Indah O. F. W.Sep 2026
Check-in was smooth and I was walked straight up to my room, which had both city and pool views alongside the bridge. Breakfast was genuinely top quality even though the room was busy. Merve, Tayfur and the butler team made the whole stay feel memorable.
Traveling with two young kids, the team left teddies and activities in our room every day we were out.
Qasim SJul 2026
This was our second stay and it’s the best we’ve had, from the decor to the attentiveness toward our children. The a la carte breakfast was excellent and the lobster at Isokyo is something we’d order again. For the level of service and the room quality, the price felt fair.

Our suite was lovely but the bathroom door wouldn’t even close properly, let alone lock.
Jory ImrJul 2026
Service was good overall, but almost none of the interconnecting doors between rooms could be locked, and the main bathroom door was the worst offender, unable to close or lock at all. I also think the minibar alcohol should be optional given how easily accessible it is to children staying in the room.

The team handled little details we never even had to ask about, and Serkan made breakfast feel personal.
rasoul mansouriJun 2026
Our room was always spotlessly clean and well prepared, down to small things we didn’t request. Serkan at breakfast was especially kind and helpful taking our orders each morning, which set a nice tone for the day.
Attentive housekeeping

Deniz from the concierge team handled every arrangement flawlessly from the moment we arrived.
Javid SadikhovJun 2026
Deniz was warm, professional and genuinely dedicated to making our stay memorable, with every recommendation and arrangement handled without a hitch. It’s rare to get this level of attention and care from a concierge desk.

I’ve stayed at luxury hotels all over, and this one genuinely stands out because of the people, not just the property.
dana al mutawaJun 2026
Every staff member we interacted with was kind, welcoming and attentive in a way that felt personal rather than scripted. It made us feel completely at home for the whole stay. This is now our default choice whenever we’re in Istanbul.
Staff warmth across every interaction
Red flag
I lost a power bank in my room and couldn’t get a straight answer about it, plus the shower only ran scalding hot.
HailinJul 2026
Staff told me they didn’t find my missing power bank in the room, though I suspect otherwise, and on top of that I couldn’t get the shower temperature to come down from very hot.

The rooms here are the biggest I’ve found in Istanbul, but the location inside an office and mall complex is the real catch.
Jul 2026
Our entry room was 650 square feet with a huge balcony, and we got upgraded to a nearly 1,400-square-foot junior suite with views over the whole city, I felt like a sultan. The spa, gym and two pools (neither heated) were some of the best I’ve seen in the city. Service was the standout: we had two butlers reachable over WhatsApp who left daily gifts like hammam items and perfumes, and when our room wasn’t ready they sat us in the Bosphorus Lounge instead of making us wait in the lobby. The catch is the location: you’re surrounded by highways inside the Zorlu Center complex, Sultanahmet is 40 minutes away and can become 80 in traffic, so this isn’t the hotel for a first Istanbul trip.
We’ve been coming back for nine years and around fifteen stays, and it still feels like home.
anasafarianSep 2026
The concierge team, especially Mete, Erdem and Deniz, are the best I’ve dealt with anywhere, and the men out front always make sure I get into a taxi safely when I’m alone. Eyup and Bekir at breakfast have been consistently wonderful too. This time the butler service and the room cleaning weren’t quite what they used to be, which I noticed given how many times we’ve stayed, but we still keep coming back.

They met us at the plane and buggied us through immigration, then a butler had us in our room before we’d even registered it.

The 13th floor room was spacious with an amazing bathroom and solid AC for summer. The main restaurant turned out to be Asian fusion only, which disappointed us since we wanted Turkish food, so we ended up ordering an excellent Turkish meal to the room instead. Coffee was the other letdown: no barista machine anywhere, just Nespresso pods, and nothing good open nearby until 8 or 10am.
We watched two continents from our window every morning in the Deluxe Bosphorus Room, and it was worth skipping the bigger suite for that view.
Ethan NezAug 2026
We were offered a free upgrade to the 1,453-square-foot Junior Suite but after comparing both in person we kept our 775-square-foot Deluxe Bosphorus Room because the view lined up perfectly with the bridge. The lobby is gorgeous and front desk staff were gracious throughout. The hotel’s direct entrance into the Zorlu Center mall made finding food and shops genuinely easy.

They charged my card for a security deposit far above the room cost, then I waited two weeks for it back.
Dušan MrozekJun 2026
The room itself was good, but check-in involved a direct charge of 195,000 Turkish lira as a security deposit instead of a pre-authorization, which is well beyond the cost of the stay. After checkout I was billed again for the room and had to wait two weeks to get the deposit refunded.

Sushi at Isokyo was honestly the best we’ve had anywhere in Türkiye, and everything else flowed just as smoothly.
burak hammasMar 2026
From the welcome at the door through to breakfast, the whole stay felt polished and warm. Our room was spotless and quiet, breakfast had great variety, and the sushi at Isokyo stood out for its flavor balance and presentation. The location worked perfectly for what we needed.

Our butler Aliza organized a thoughtful surprise every single day of our anniversary trip.
FayrezaFeb 2026
We came for five days to celebrate our anniversary and tried the breakfast, brunch, restaurant, massage and spa, all of it excellent. Aliza and the rest of the butler team made the whole stay feel genuinely celebratory rather than just well organized. We’re already planning our next visit.

About Raffles Istanbul
Raffles Istanbul occupies several floors of one tower within the Zorlu Center complex, a mixed-use development of office buildings, luxury apartments and an enclosed shopping mall on the European side of the city. The hotel has its own dedicated entrance into the Zorlu Center shopping mall. Rooms are large by local standards, starting at roughly 650 square feet for entry-level categories and reaching about 1,400 square feet in the Junior Suite, many with wraparound balconies facing the city or the Bosphorus and its bridge.
On property there is a restaurant serving Turkish and Japanese fusion food, including a sushi counter, plus a lobby bar serving light dishes and a bar area referred to by guests as the Bosphorus Lounge. Wellness facilities include a spa offering traditional hammam treatments and massage, a sauna, a large gym, and both an indoor and an outdoor pool, with a membership program also available to local residents. Every room is assigned a dedicated butler. The Zorlu Center mall beneath the hotel provides additional restaurants and retail within the same complex.
What fat travellers ask
Is Raffles Istanbul worth it?
For repeat visitors to Istanbul who want huge rooms, a dedicated butler, and a quiet base to retreat to, most guests say it delivers on price. First-timers chasing the historic old city should weigh the location carefully before booking.
What’s the best time to visit Raffles Istanbul?
Guests mention using both the indoor and outdoor pools, though neither is heated, so the outdoor pool is most appealing in Istanbul’s warmer months from late spring through early autumn.
How does Raffles Istanbul compare to nearby alternatives?
Travelers who’ve tried several Istanbul luxury hotels tend to pick Raffles for room size and butler service, but point to properties like the Four Seasons Sultanahmet or the Peninsula for a first stay closer to the old city and the water.
Who is Raffles Istanbul best for?
It suits business travelers, families wanting self-contained amenities, and second-or-third-time visitors to Istanbul who’ve already covered the historic sights and want space and service over location.
Does Raffles Istanbul have good coffee?
This is a recurring complaint: there’s no espresso machine anywhere on property, only Nespresso-style pods, and nearby mall cafes don’t open until mid-morning.
How do I book Raffles Istanbul?
Two routes, and both end with the reservation sitting at the hotel in your name. Direct on the hotel’s own site is the fastest — the Reserve button on this page goes straight to it. The other is through a travel advisor with consortia access: you pay the same rate the hotel is charging publicly, the hotel pays the advisor’s commission instead of you, and an amenity package comes attached — breakfast for two daily, even on room-only rates, $100 property credit for food, drink or spa, room upgrade, subject to availability, early check-in and late check-out, subject to availability. We handle that side ourselves for readers who ask.
What is the smartest way to book Raffles Istanbul?
Through a travel advisor with consortia access, for almost everyone. You pay the hotel’s own public rate and an amenity package comes on top that direct booking doesn’t include — typically breakfast for two daily, even on room-only rates, $100 property credit for food, drink or spa, room upgrade, subject to availability, early check-in and late check-out, subject to availability. It costs nothing extra, because the hotel pays the commission rather than you. The one real exception is brand loyalty: advisor rates don’t always earn nights toward status, so if you’re chasing a tier or points, book direct. Short of that, there’s no version of booking direct that leaves you better off. We’re advisors ourselves, so you can just ask us.
Can I get a free room upgrade at Raffles Istanbul?
Never guaranteed — it depends on what’s still unsold the day you arrive, and anyone promising one is guessing. Two things move the odds. The reliable one is booking through a consortia programme, where a room upgrade is written into the amenity package subject to availability; it costs nothing extra and it is the closest thing to a lever that exists. The other is telling the hotel in advance that you’re celebrating something, which works more often than people expect. The first part is already handled if you book it with us.
