What you're trading for that seclusion is a property so spread out that golf carts become the whole logistics of your stay, and that's the real cost here, not the bugs or the heat. Waits of 20 to 60 minutes show up routinely, even at low occupancy: one traveller waited over an hour on a Tuesday in July with the resort near 40% full, after a host had promised ten minutes. There's quietly upcharged bottled water (ask for the free filtered house water instead), a $700-an-hour jet ski, and one guest was handed a cash deposit back in pesos instead of the dollars they'd left, then charged a commission to convert it back.
