The honest review of COMO Point Yamu

COMO Point Yamu — Phuket, Thailand — A secluded villa resort on Phuket's Cape Yamu headland 11 photos

The verdict

COMO Point Yamu sits on its own headland on Phuket’s quieter east side, away from everything and built for exactly that kind of privacy. The villas get the strongest reaction: a four-bedroom pool villa draws comparisons to the best family stays in Phuket, and the private pools attached to the rooms are the detail people bring up unprompted when asked what made the trip. Staff get remembered by name here. One guest’s butler, Da, ran the whole stay over WhatsApp and kept showing up in the gratitude at the end of the review; another couple had the restaurant team learn their drink order by the third day.

The trade-off is eating on property. There are really only two restaurants despite the hotel’s own materials suggesting more, and the Italian room is the better of the two. For a resort at this price, that’s a thin bench, and anyone who wants a night off from the in-house menu will be calling a car. A family villa guest also flagged that the hot water tank isn’t sized for eight-plus people showering back to back, worth knowing if you’re booking the bigger villas.

None of that changes who this is for: people who want a private pool, a quiet headland, and staff who remember what they drink, over a resort with five restaurants to rotate through. Book it for the villas and the view, plan to eat at least one night off-site, and go in knowing Phuket Town is a drive away, not a walk.

The five scores

Service 17/20

A butler named Da ran a whole stay over WhatsApp, and the restaurant staff learned a family’s drink orders by day three.

Rooms & Design 17/20

Low-rise, villa-led architecture that guests describe as understated rather than showy, with private pools drawing the strongest reaction.

Location 14.5/20

A quiet headland that keeps the views and privacy but means a Grab ride for anything outside the gate.

Dining 13.5/20

Only two real restaurants on site despite marketing language suggesting more, and the Thai kitchen undercuts the Italian one.

Wellness 15.5/20

Morning yoga gets singled out as a highlight, and the hotel will arrange outside activities like muay thai on request.

Strengths

  • Butler service that guests coordinate over WhatsApp and credit for making the trip
  • Private pool villas, including multi-bedroom layouts suited to families
  • Understated architecture that favours space and privacy over resort spectacle
  • Morning yoga and arranged outside activities like muay thai training
  • Strong breakfast spread with fresh juices and coconut water

Trade-offs

  • Only two real restaurants on site despite the hotel’s own materials implying more
  • The Thai restaurant underperforms relative to the price
  • Secluded location means a car or Grab ride for anything off property
  • Hot water supply strained in larger villas with multiple guests showering

What people say

Lifts the score

If you’re splitting a Phuket stay across two spots, I’d pair somewhere like Rosewood or Six Senses with Point Yamu.

Dec 2025

Phuket is big enough that two properties over six nights with different vibes and beaches makes sense to me. Point Yamu is one I’d put on that list. Separately, I’d always organize fast-track immigration and hotel car transfers for Southeast Asia trips generally, since it beats dealing with the taxi system after a long flight.

  • Works well as one half of a two-hotel Phuket trip

The room was huge and the breakfast spread was one of the best I’ve had on a resort trip.

Elle (Ellezzz) Oct 2026

We were there for a company event, so the days were packed, but the room itself was spacious and spotless. Breakfast was a highlight every morning, with healthy juices, coconut drinks and daily specials cooked to order. I never got to try the spa with the schedule we had. It’s a genuinely secluded spot, so anyone hoping to pop into Phuket Town easily should know that’s not really how this works.

  • Spacious, clean rooms
  • Standout breakfast spread
  • Very secluded from Phuket Town

Mixed read

By our third day, the restaurant staff already knew our drink orders without us saying a word.

Giscard Bourgeois Oct 2026

The service from the curb to the room was excellent, and our room steward was attentive the whole stay. Our private infinity pool was worth every bit of the price. A couch in the room had a slight mouldy smell under its cover, and you can tell the rooms are starting to show their age despite updates. The two actual restaurants on site, Thai and Italian, didn’t match the price we paid, though the Italian was the better of the two. The hotel’s guided tours were genuinely great, and being a bit remote, I relied on Grab for anything off property.

  • Attentive curb-to-room service
  • Private infinity pool
  • Restaurants underwhelming for the price
  • Rooms starting to show age

Strong endorsement

Our butler Da ran the whole trip over WhatsApp and turned the stay into something we’ll remember for years.

Ghadah Sep 2026

My family and I loved every part of this stay. The staff were warm and attentive throughout, and the morning yoga class ended up being one of my favourite parts of the whole trip. Our villa was spacious, spotless and beautifully furnished. Da, our butler, was reachable on WhatsApp any time we needed something and made the whole experience feel personal. We’re already planning to come back.

  • Butler reachable over WhatsApp
  • Morning yoga class
  • Spacious, well-furnished villa

I wish we’d booked more nights here, the whole property felt right from the moment we arrived.

CWG VID Aug 2026

The vibe hit immediately when we stepped onto the property, and the staff walked us through every facility without us having to ask. Breakfast was excellent and the coconut water became a daily habit. There’s a kids’ play room and activities, and the pool views stopped me every time I walked past. Nothing about the design felt like it was trying too hard, it’s a clean, intentional kind of place. Two nights minimum is what I’d tell anyone going.

“the design is the true meaning of “less is more”” in their words
  • Design feels intentional, not showy
  • Strong breakfast
  • Kids’ activities available

This might be the best family resort I’ve found in Phuket, the four-bedroom villa was that good.

AZ BEAN Jul 2026

We booked the 4-Bedroom Pool Villa and it was spacious, beautifully designed, and genuinely relaxing with a private pool and sea view that made the whole trip. The one issue was hot water: with eight or more of us in the villa, the tank couldn’t keep up once people started showering one after another. I’d love to see the system upgraded because otherwise everything about the stay was excellent, and we’d happily book it again.

  • Spacious 4-bedroom villa
  • Private pool and sea view
  • Hot water tank too small for larger villas

About COMO Point Yamu

COMO Point Yamu occupies a headland on the Cape Yamu peninsula on Phuket’s east coast, set apart from the island’s busier beach strip. The property is built in a low-rise, villa-led style across the point, with sea views from most of the grounds and a layout that favours private pools and spaced-out accommodation over a dense resort footprint. Rooms range up to multi-bedroom pool villas suited to families or groups travelling together.

On site, guests have access to two restaurants, including an Italian kitchen and a Thai restaurant, along with a breakfast spread that includes fresh juices and coconut water. There is a spa, a kids’ play room and organized activities, and a morning yoga class. The hotel can also arrange outside excursions, including local muay thai training, and offers guided tours. The setting is secluded relative to central Phuket, with transport needed to reach shops, restaurants and attractions off property.
