It's also not the most central address in the city, sitting in Nihonbashi rather than Ginza proper, though the subway is right there.

Book it for a Tokyo stay built around food and genuine hospitality rather than the newest building in town; the Okura and Aman Tokyo get raised constantly by people who've done both, usually on design terms rather than service ones. If you want the newest rooms in the city, that's a fair reason to look elsewhere. If you want staff who remember your name on a second visit and a pizza reservation worth fighting for, this is where you book.

What arrives for the money is a private beach attached to the property, a gym that gets called one of the best in the city, and a service style where the room gets tidied every time you step out. Families get balloons and toys sent up within minutes of check-in; regulars get remembered.

The rooms are the honest catch. One recent guest called them dated next to Dubai's newer builds, and a separate stay turned up a genuinely uncomfortable mattress and bites that sent them home early after one night instead of four. That is a real miss, not a mood, and it is worth pricing in if you are booking a base room rather than a suite. A club-room booking also went wrong for one guest when the lounge turned out to be closed without warning, so it is worth confirming exactly what a category includes before you pay the premium for it. None of that shows up often against the volume of glowing detail on service and food, but it is there.

Book it for the beach, the staff who remember you, and a kitchen that does not require leaving the property. Ask specifically about your room's age and your lounge access before you commit to a category, and this is one of the easiest yeses in the city.
