The Verdict
Rosewood Miramar Beach delivers genuine luxury on California's coast, with Rick Caruso's vision manifesting as polished bungalows scattered across manicured grounds like a high-end village. The Michelin-starred Caruso's anchors exceptional dining, while the adult pool and private beach create proper sanctuary moments. However, the freight train that bisects the property remains a jarring intrusion — guests report loud whistles throughout the day, and the adjacent freeway construction adds industrial noise. At $1,500+ per night, these disruptions feel particularly grating, though the service team's warmth and the property's undeniable beauty keep many returning despite the acoustic challenges.

What People Say
We were there about two years ago and the service at the pool was incredibly bad, plus there was a wedding every weekend.
The rooms were great and the food was amazing, and exploring the town was cute. But I'll never forget how terrible the pool service was — we couldn't get anyone's attention for basic things. And of course there was a wedding party, which probably happens every weekend given how popular the location is. Overall we were happy despite these issues.
This is easily the most overpriced hotel on planet earth — I could write a novella on my dislike.
That Ambassador suite is probably $9k but $15k during peak season. You've got trains, freeway noise, oil rigs visible, and tons of retail everywhere. It's a joke of a place owned by the guy who does malls, and it literally looks like The Grove shopping center. The location has no sense of sanctuary.
Having grown up in Santa Barbara, I know this area well — Miramar would be more comfortable if you're quite pregnant.
You can do a lot of easy activities at Miramar, and there are tons of restaurants at your disposal in Montecito and Santa Barbara. The weather is more dependable than Big Sur, and you can even fly from LAX to Santa Barbara in 40 minutes then drive 20 minutes to the hotel if you don't want to deal with LA traffic.
I stayed here for two days during a wedding and everything was perfect from start to finish.
The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, the atmosphere was stunning, and every detail felt five-star. Whether relaxing by the pool, enjoying ocean views, or soaking in the wedding festivities, it was truly unforgettable. Already looking for an excuse to come back.
This is my favorite place to escape from Los Angeles for a few days — it truly has everything.
Such a charming spot with all kinds of shops from luxury boutiques like Chanel and Loro Piana to great skincare stores. On top of the shopping, it's honestly one of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed in. The combination of retail and resort makes it feel like a complete destination.
What really makes this place special is the attention to detail of the staff and the warmth of their hospitality.
The setting is stunning, the hotel and facilities are outstanding, and the restaurants are exceptional. But the authentic sincerity and care of the staff create an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and deeply personal. Everyone we met felt genuine in their approach to service.
Worth every penny — we played in the ocean, laid by both pools, and enjoyed bocce and cornhole with our pug.
The service, facilities, and quality are top notch across the board. We had access to both the adult and family pools, games on the lawns, and excellent pet accommodations. The variety of activities and pristine facilities justify the premium pricing.
We stopped for a pre-dinner drink and were immediately taken care of at the inside bar.
The service was prompt and professional, though it was a bit chilly for the beach bar so we stayed inside. Walking the grounds was lovely, and it's pretty wild that the train comes right through there — the kids must love it. We'd definitely recommend and hope to return.
We've stayed at both the oceanfront and non-oceanfront rooms, and this is honestly the most underrated hotel in California.
I stayed in one of the non-oceanfront properties this time because $5k a night is steep, but the property itself is stunning with Caruso's Michelin restaurant right on site. The shopping is incredible — Loro Piana, Chanel, Zegna, Brunello — and the private beach club with perfectly manicured grounds makes it feel special. The rooms are spacious and well spread out, though I wish they had bidets and smart TVs. Booking through Sara got me an upgrade, which always helps.
This was our third trip to this stunning and stylish resort, just 1.5 hours from LA.
We got an early check-in with our dog and were upgraded to a Lanai King room. The white bungalows feel like little neighborhoods, each with private terraces and Diptyque amenities. They're incredibly dog-friendly with water bowls, beds, treats, and bandannas provided. The adult pool has exquisite service, though the Beach Bar can be slow. There's some tar on the beach like all Santa Barbara beaches, but they provide spray to help remove it.
We paid $1,500-$1,700 per night but the atmosphere was not as peaceful as expected.
The property itself is stunning with beautiful landscapes, but common areas were overrun with unsupervised children and off-leash dogs causing disturbances. Kids were screaming and slamming bocce balls, and dog feces was left on the ground with urine smell in the mornings. The room carpets felt dirty with stains, and the $75 valet parking plus $75 resort fee felt unreasonable. Cocktails start at $24-$28, which is extreme even for high-end.
Our sushi experience was our favorite meal, and we couldn't have asked for a better room to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
We were welcomed with amazing amenities after three flights and a long travel day. The beach experience was gorgeous for three days, and every interaction was wonderful. Kai at the front desk, Gabriel, Dominic, and Robinette were all fantastic. The service and bartender at our sushi dinner were both excellent.
From the first moment you pull up, the service is excellent and every pathway, tree, and building makes you feel like you've escaped to a different world.
The hotel is beautiful in every way, with modern, techy but charming rooms and perfect cleanliness. The restaurants are amazing — everything from casual to Michelin stars are offered. The Miramar beach bar and beach are great additions, and you could spend days here between the property, pools, and restaurants.
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by Brian who made us feel like VIPs throughout our entire stay.
Everything was top notch — Brian escorted us to check-in and gave us property tours with great suggestions. The room was spacious, luxurious, and spotlessly clean. Lunch at Miramar Beach bar had fire tacos, and dinner at Revere featured the best Wagyu strip I've had. All staff were warm, friendly, and constantly smiling, which made us feel the same way.
