The Verdict

Bulgari Roma brings the brand's signature contemporary Italian elegance to the Eternal City, though it doesn't quite achieve the transcendent luxury of its Tokyo sibling. The hotel anchors itself in modern sophistication rather than Roman grandeur — think sleek lines and marble rather than Renaissance frescoes. Service follows Bulgari's exacting standards with the brand's characteristic attention to detail, from twice-daily room refreshes to thoughtful amenities. While the location near Via Condotti offers excellent shopping access, it lacks the commanding presence of Rome's true palace hotels. The property succeeds as a refined urban retreat but feels more like a very good luxury hotel than a defining Roman experience.

What People Say

I'm considering several Rome hotels in the $1,500/night range but want something with genuine sense of place.

We're looking at J.K. Place, Portrait Roma, Six Senses, and Hotel Eden for our first Rome visit. Our style leans clean and modern but we don't want something generic that could be dropped into any city worldwide. We want to feel like we're actually experiencing Rome, not just staying in a nice international hotel.

I'm debating between several Bali beach hotels including Bulgari for our honeymoon after Ubud.

u/Aggravating-Bench350 · Feb 2026

We're looking to round out our long honeymoon with five days of pure beach relaxation. I'm considering Four Seasons Jimbaran, Amankila, St Regis Nusa Dua, and Bulgari among others. The challenge is figuring out which actually has the best beach experience versus just being a good hotel near the water.

I'm planning my first China trip and Bulgari feels uninspiring for Shanghai.

u/Inevitable_Trade_628 · Jan 2026

Looking at hotels for my 14-day China itinerary and struggling with Shanghai options. Bulgari feels not particularly special, same with Waldorf Astoria. I'm hoping to find something more boutique or locally distinctive rather than just another international luxury chain. The other cities have more compelling options but Shanghai is proving challenging.

I'm obsessed with collecting luxury hotel amenities and specifically want Bulgari products.

I love when hotels have high-end soaps and lotions from luxury brands. I'm particularly interested in finding where I can purchase Balmain body wash and Bulgari lotion that I've encountered at various luxury properties. These branded amenities really elevate the hotel experience for me.

I see Bulgari Roma sitting at #22 on this year's World's Best 50 Hotels list.

u/Successful-Trainer95 · Oct 2025

The ranking puts it in solid company but not at the very top tier. It's positioned above some respected names like Hôtel de Crillon and below properties like Cheval Blanc Paris. The list itself draws some skepticism from frequent luxury travelers, but the inclusion suggests Bulgari Roma maintains strong industry recognition.

I'm choosing between Tokyo's top hotels and Bulgari is definitely in my consideration set.

u/Ponygirl330 · Feb 2025

For my six nights in Tokyo, I want to split time between the two absolute best hotels in the city. I'm looking at Four Seasons Otemachi, Janu, Bulgari, and Aman as my top choices. I specifically want to avoid anywhere with tired rooms — no Peninsula, Ritz, or Mandarin Oriental for this trip. Fresh, luxurious accommodations are essential.

We stayed at Bulgari Tokyo for our honeymoon and it became our number one hotel experience ever.

u/LadyLeila12 · Apr 2026

The room was absolutely beautiful with incredible city views and the best blackout shades I've ever encountered. Every day they refreshed our room with multiple sweet treats and thoughtful gifts. But what made it extraordinary was the service — when we had theater ticket issues, the concierge got in the hotel car with us and personally resolved everything at the venue. That level of care was unprecedented in our travels.

I booked the Bulgari for our final Shanghai nights, though I'm having second thoughts about the choice.

u/Agitated-Tax8122 · Jan 2025

While I prefer the Bulgari's contemporary style over the Peninsula's dated concrete aesthetic, many people recommended Peninsula instead. They're offering a massive 120 sqm Grand Deluxe River Suite for the same price as my current 60 sqm room at Bulgari. Since I won't be spending much time at the hotel anyway, I'm torn. Service quality seems comparable between both properties from what I've researched.

Contemporary design aesthetic
Comparable service quality
Smaller rooms at same price point
Less river view options

How we score

The 8 signals above are a handpicked editorial selection from 42 signals we gathered across dedicated luxury communities, guest reviews, and editorial publications. Every signal we gathered — not just the ones shown — feeds into the FV Score and verdict above.

Credibility-weighted

Detailed trip reports from luxury communities and major editorial reviews carry the most weight. Brief ratings add context, not conviction.

Recency-adjusted

Recent experiences matter more. Renovations, management changes, and staff turnover all surface in fresh signals.

Consensus-driven

When independent sources agree on a strength or weakness, that signal gets amplified. One bad night doesn't tank a score.

Refreshed quarterly
