The Verdict
Amanusa runs on the same formula as every Aman villa property: private pool, round-the-clock butler, a clifftop perch above Nusa Dua. On the evidence, that formula still delivers. Butlers get named and praised across stays years apart (Dandy, in one 2026 account), the in-villa chef's sambal gets singled out more than once, and the staff running the beach area come up as the standout for families with young kids.
Where it slips is the building itself and the fine print. One detailed 2023 stay found the villa interiors generic, bare enough that a longtime Aman guest said it could have been any hotel anywhere: no local decor, nothing that felt distinctly Amanusa. The same stay flagged a real design problem for families, two-bedroom villas that don't connect internally, so getting to a child's room means walking outside past the pool; the family ended up sharing one room for five nights rather than risk it. That trip also had the kids' menu shown a day before checkout instead of at booking. None of this touched the butler service, which the same reviewer rated fine. Separately, a couple of longtime Aman loyalists who've done Amanusa, Amandari, and Amankila across decades now describe the style as familiar rather than exciting, which reads less like decline and more like the format having aged in place.
Worth booking for seclusion, a private pool, and service that consistently over-delivers, especially with kids on the beach side. Confirm room configuration before you book if traveling with young children, and go in expecting comfort over character; Amandari gets described as more atmospheric by people who've stayed at both. We haven't stayed ourselves, and the villa-layout complaint comes from a single detailed report rather than a pattern.

What People Say
I couldn't decide between the Bali Amans so I did Amandari, Amankila, and Amanusa all on the same honeymoon — even tried a Four Seasons for one night and moved straight back.
My biggest takeaway from that trip: you don't need a private-pool room to have a great time — the shared pools were beautiful and quiet. Amanusa was part of that same multi-property honeymoon circuit, so my impression of it is bundled in with the others rather than distinct on its own.
Short stay but memorable — the villas were magnificent and the pool was one of the best I've seen.
I wish we'd booked more nights because everything about the visit made me want to linger. Staff were extremely attentive throughout, even on a brief stay.
Our 24-hour butler this time customized meals for us throughout the villa stay.
This wasn't my first time at the villa, and the dedicated round-the-clock butler service was again a highlight — able to tailor meals to what we wanted rather than sticking to a fixed menu.
Three days here with my family and the villa alone made the trip — quiet, private, and our butler Dandy could not have been better.
We had our own villa and it felt completely removed from everything, very serene. Our butler was friendly and efficient the whole stay, always a step ahead of what we needed. The food was a highlight too — everything's cooked in-house and the chef's sambal was genuinely the best I've had.

The villas here are beautifully designed and the staff genuinely go above and beyond — every part of the stay felt exclusive.
We had a private dinner by the pool one night and spent an afternoon at the spa, and both felt like they'd been arranged specifically for us rather than templated. The attention to detail throughout the villa was immaculate, and the views were stunning. This is exactly the kind of tranquil, private retreat I'd recommend to anyone looking to properly switch off.
every experience feels exclusivein their words
Five nights with our two young kids, and the villa layout genuinely wasn't safe for a family — the two bedrooms didn't connect except by walking outside past the pool.
We'd stayed at other Amans before so we had expectations, and this didn't meet them on the hard product. Nobody mentioned at booking, despite knowing our kids' ages, that the bedrooms would be fully separate with no internal join, so we ended up all sleeping in one room instead. The villa itself felt bare and generic, nothing that read as distinctly Aman or distinctly Balinese. Our butler was genuinely excellent, and the beach staff were wonderful with the kids, but the chef only showed us a children's menu the day before we checked out — for the price, I wasn't impressed.

What fat travellers ask
Is Amanusa worth it?
For a couple wanting a private pool villa and a butler handling everything, yes — that part of the promise holds up consistently. For families booking multi-bedroom villas expecting connected rooms, check the exact layout first; at least one recent stay found bedrooms only reachable by going outside.
What's the best time to visit Amanusa?
The reviews don't give strong seasonal signal, but the clifftop, pool-centric design suggests dry season (April–October) will get more use out of the villa pools and outdoor dining.
How does Amanusa compare to other Bali Amans?
Guests who've done Amandari, Amankila, and Amanusa on the same trip tend to speak of them as a set rather than ranking Amanusa clearly on top; one recent stay found the interiors here less distinctive and more generic than expected from the brand.
Who is Amanusa best for?
Couples or small groups prioritizing privacy, a private pool, and a hands-on butler will get exactly that. Families with young children should confirm villa connectivity before booking, since not every multi-bedroom configuration links internally.
Is Aman Villas at Nusa Dua the same as Amanusa?
Yes — Amanusa and Aman Villas at Nusa Dua are the same hotel. “Amanusa” is Aman’s long-standing name for its resort at Nusa Dua, Bali; “Aman Villas at Nusa Dua” is how the brand now markets the same property’s collection of private pool villas — same location, same resort.
