Two nights is the minimum to get your money's worth. The wildlife and the privacy are the reason to come, and on that, nothing else this close to the city touches it.

Explora runs like an expedition outfit that happens to have a lodge attached. Groups stay capped at 6-8, guides reshuffle pace and difficulty around whoever's in the van that day, and staff are learning names by the second morning. Book this for the desert itself, not the room you sleep in. Travelers wanting sharper design in the same landscape tend to look at Tierra Atacama. But for guides who actually know the terrain and a schedule built around moving through it, nothing nearby matches it.
